Obama’s Negative Approval Rating

Written by lizbetty on July 28th, 2009

Can you believe it? One of the most popular presidents when he was elected and in just nine months his polls have dropped to only a 30% approval rating according to Rassmussen Reports, with a  -10 overall rating. Oh my.

Seems he’s way over exposed and I agree. Every time you turn around he’s on another T.V. program giving an interview or hawking some new legislation he’s trying to sell. Lately, he’s just trying to get himself out of that Cambridge mess he got into when he opened his mouth and didn’t have all the facts.  That particular gaff earned him some very unpopular ratings, of course the opinions here were divided down racial lines. Now, while our Mr. President has deemed this to be a learning moment for the nation, it appears he’s the one who has the learning to do. Like for instance, when your elected president of a country, you are elected president of the entire country, not just of one particular race. Next time Mr. President. get the facts before you speak.

Don’t get me wrong, racial profiling is a serious issue, but people of all colors look to Obama for guidance and when he speaks his words carry a different kind of weight than they did when he was just a Senator, and its precisely these ‘little’ issues where his inexperience shows. If he can’t handle an off the cuff question such as this one was, one has to wonder what else can’t he handle? Its one thing to mess up in America, quite another to blow it in a foreign country.

Obama has been so visible lately that its almost as if he’s on the campaign trail all over again, only this time he’s not doing a very good job of it. I think he’d do much better if he had a clearly defined opponent. Unfortunately, there’s really no one to go after without getting him into more hot water. The Dems control the House and the Senate and its the Blue Dogs who are holding up his health care reform. He’s tried dogging the Republicans, but that isn’t going over so well, which makes sense considering he’s allegedly working on bipartisanship (although, I’ve been reading some left leaning blogs attempting to now spin his obvious partisan ways as people having simply misunderstooding his true meaning on the campaign trail. Does this mean Obama really is the evil genius after all or just some really good spin or their part?). If memory serves, Bush made the same claim and people caught on to him real quick too.

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but the rest of can see the emperor is missing a few things.

It seems that people are not getting the “change” they expected or perhaps voted for. I, for one, am one among many who have found the route our current president is taking is unacceptable. Our nation’s glorious past is becomming just that: past. Our voices must not be diminished during this period of disillusionment. We need to speak up even if we think no one is listening. Maybe if enough of our voices are raised our politicians and our President will finally listen. I am not giving up or giving in. We definitely need change, but not what we’ve been getting so far.
