Obama’s Mean Spirited Congressional Address

Written by lizbetty on September 9th, 2009

Well by now we’ve all heard the President’s Congressional Address regarding the health care reform bill and for my part, I found it difficult to watch. Not only did he not bring anything new to the table, he had the audacity to cast dispersions upon Americans who questioned the bill and what it contained. He mischaracterized the nature of the complaints against what were termed the’death panels’ and again tried to make those who dissented look like fools and idiots. I personally find Obama’s methods of addressing the concerns of the American people to be degrading and unbecoming of an American President and believe me, I wasted no time in letting him know. I cannot recall a President in recent memory who has spoken to or about the American people in such a derogatory and hateful fashion.

I am sick and tired of listening to a President spend half of his time ripping the opposite party to shreds. At what point does he think this will bring this nation together? At what point did he think he was given a mandate to legislate any bill he saw fit? He never once refers to what the American people want, he only spoke of how it was imperative to pass health care legislation and that he was the man to do it. It was pretty clear that Obama sees this legislation not as legislation that the American people want, but as the legislation that will define his presidency. He wants to be the president that passes health care reform where all others have failed, it does not matter to him that this is dividing the country, it does not matter to him what this legislation will cost us in terms of jobs or revenue, it does not even matter to him that this bill could ruin our health care system. What matters to President Obama is his legacy and that is the sign of dangerously arrogant man.
